No Sequel for you Mr. Sommers.

Let us all bow our heads in a moment of silence with Snake Eyes here as we reflect at the loss of Director Stephen Sommers as he is no longer apart of the sequel to Rise of Cobra.

OK! Now that we got that shit out of the way, a story from the LA Times broke yesterday claiming Paramount is currently calling agents to various directors about their interest in leading the next G.I. Joe movie. No actual directors were named but I am sure every single fan of this franchise are already putting Christopher Nolan on top of their list (just like every other list.. for every other god damn franchise.. seriously he doesn't need to direct EVERYTHING!).

Personally I didn't think the first one was all that bad seeing as it was based of an 80's cartoon with so many hidden metaphors and terrible one liners of fairness and any other cliched lesson they wanted cartoons to teach the kiddies back then.  I mean some of the costume design was a poor choice but they got the important parts right, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. I would expect whoever takes over to make changes as they see fit, all I hope is that whoever they get keeps the over the top level stories and doesn't try to bury this in reality. If there is one franchise that should stay in the world of the ridiculous it is G.I. Joe.
