Seth MacFarlane wins the rights to the Flinstones

Do you hear that sound. Its the sound of jaws dropping and/or possible people banging their heads on desk.

Esspecially Since Seth MacFarlane has won the rights to reboot the show (according to Deadline). Now as much as their is fear for MacFarlane's raunchy comedic styling I have no problem with this. If there is one thing for sure MacFarlane has a enormous respect for the source material.

MacFarlane has been quoted in the Toronto Sun as saying:

"My philosophy is if it's something that can potentially ruin the show forever, then it's probably something we should try," MacFarlane said. "That has served us fairly well as (Family Guy) has aged.

"At the end of the day, what's the worst that could happen? Shows live and die all the time. Better to go out taking some risks than to rest on your laurels and fall into lazy patterns."

Either way I don’t see much upside to this news. Either MacFarlane will make it raunchy (and probably pretty entertaining) this time around, ruining the show’s legacy, or he will play it straight and give us an unfunny, dated cartoon, which everyone will have deemed unnecessary. I’m hoping for the former, but mostly I’m just hoping this doesn’t happen.

Video Games just won themselves a grammy.

Its the mediums very first ever grammy and as far as I am concerned its about time :).

So video games took another step last night in the quest of world domination and of all places the Grammy's. They won Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) and we can thank a song that over 5 years old in Christopher Tin's "Baba Yetu" from Civilization IV a game that many of us have fond memories of.

So i guess whats next to be taking over by our medium. I'm looking at you Broadway since we can't get it right in the theaters AT ALL.

Oh and just in case you don't know the tune in your head here you go.

Beavis and Butthead Return

So yesterday at the MTV Upfront event in New York City The return of Beavis and Butthead was announced. The cast of Skins made the announcement that the duo would return this summer. Justin Bieber also tweeted from the event with his own excitement for the show's comeback.

Wait wait wait.... so the show Skins is the one to announce B & B's return and then Justin Bieber is all about it over twitter? That Emma Watson clone wasn't even alive when that show began and he was 3 or 4 when it ended. God dammit.. MTV is gonna ruin this once entertaining show. I cant wait til it fails and Adult Swim picks it up to make it respectable.

Thundercats HOOOOOOO!

So WB is putting out a new Thundercats cartoon. Not much is known about it at this time but we have a plot description and a picture for you!

"The new “ThunderCats” will appeal to viewers who have loved the characters all their lives as well as young newcomers to the franchise. A sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes, the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O’s ascension to the throne – and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost – takes on epic dimensions in this sharp new telling. As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode"

I like the anime style to it and hope it continues on the run of recent rebirths of my childhood favorites. No release date is set but I am sure we will have more details in the next few months.

Wonder Woman is heading to NBC!

It was in the works, then it wasn't. It was shopped around, and then it was canned. Now Wonder Woman is officially picked up by a major network and being brought to your living rooms by NBC. This show was shopped around months ago with no companies (including NBC) willing to pick it up due to it's high costs. Now Bob Greenblatt (new head of entertainment at NBC from the Comcast takeover) has approved the budget and as committed to Wonder Woman, at least as a pilot.
