It was in the works, then it wasn't. It was shopped around, and then it was canned. Now Wonder Woman is officially picked up by a major network and being brought to your living rooms by NBC. This show was shopped around months ago with no companies (including NBC) willing to pick it up due to it's high costs. Now Bob Greenblatt (new head of entertainment at NBC from the Comcast takeover) has approved the budget and as committed to Wonder Woman, at least as a pilot.
David E. Kelley will be penning this effort of bringing DC's biggest female heroine to TV. His previous efforts have been in Boston Legal, The Practice, and Ally McBeal. The take on Wonder Woman will be a little different then her comic legacy. Wonder Woman and her alter ego Diana Prince will be written as a successful business executive and modern woman, who also is a vigilante crime fighter in LA. It doesn't seem as if she will be an Amazon Princess but who knows, I'm sure she will still have her trademark weapons and abilities. No time line is set for when we could see the pilot, but writing is complete. As more details emerge (casting, date, time slot) we will certainly bring it to you.
