Since late last night Playstation Network has been down for unknown reasons. Attempts to sign in are met with error code 80710A06. Even worse is the outage may even last a few days as noted from the blog of Patrick Seybold, senior director of corporate communications & social media for Sony.
"While we are investigating the cause of the Network outage, we wanted to alert you that it may be a full day or two before we're able to get the service completely back up and running. Thank you very much for your patience while we work to resolve this matter. Please stay tuned to this space for more details, and we'll update you again as soon as we can."
The issue itself has stretched far and wide being reported in the U.S., Austrailia, and Japan. There is no confirmation of cause though speculation is leading to an attack from Anti-Sony activist groups like Annonymous (though they have made statements in the past that their issues with Sony would never lead to them affecting customers of Sony products). Only time will tell how long this will be down and the cause though it does hurt the community with the recent releases of SOCOM 4 and Mortal Kombat.
