As we move further away from when the rumors began more details about Nintendo's next console. Mainly more details about the controller are surfacing giving us an idea just what the intentions are with such a device. The controller will sport a 6.2 inch touch screen with an 8 button layout attached as well as a camera. Despite this being the main controller for the system it is not looking to replace the Wii Remote outright. Nintendo is encouraging developers to make titles surrounding either/both of the controller's capabilities.
It's not clear though if the system will receive it's own version of Wii remote or use existing devices out now. The new controller however will be used to incorporate extended functionality with your games. The driving force behind this seems to be Ocarina of Time 3D and how it uses the touch screen as an inventory system to clear clutter off the top screen and leave you with more of the area to see and explore. The camera is also expected to be used in gameplay similar to the camera for the 3DS possibly using pictures for backgrounds or maybe even characters.
It sounds like Nintendo is looking to make big strides again in not only the hardware technology but interactivity as well. We will get all the full details at E3 if the rumors are true.
