The Xperia Play Gets Official

I'm sure the name Xperia Play doesn't ring any bells but maybe it does when I call it the Playstation Phone!

Today the phone was officially announced with details on launch and provider. The phone will be out this spring and Verizon gets first crack at selling the first "Playstation Certified Device". The phone will have 50 games available at launch with a "legendary" PS1 title available to the phone for free. All Playstation games coming out for the device after that will be exclusive to that phone for a limited time so if you want a device capable of playing those old school Playstation games then you may wanna hold off on that upgrade til spring time. The phone also boasts some impressive specs for the device listed below.

*PlayStation Certified gaming experience
*Latest version of the Android platform (Gingerbread version 2.3)
*60fps play-back enabled through the Snapdragon 1Ghz processor, optimized with enhanced graphical processor unit the Adreno 205
*Dedicated gaming controls for real console quality game play, including four-way directional keys, recognizable ABCD keys with PlayStation iconography, left/right shoulder keys and two analog touch inputs for joystick action
*4-inch brilliant multi-touch display
*5.0 megapixel camera

The phone will have support from various developers of the mobile and console variety. Folks like EA, Namco Bandai, and Glu are just the few of many that will be making games for the device. The device will also launch with Bruce Lee, Asphalt Adrenaline 6, Sims 3, Star Battalion,  and Tetris already on the device for free.

All of this sounds impressive... if you want a gaming level phone. So what say you? does this peak your interests?
