Good Morning Everyone,
As most of you may know last night marked a historic announcement from the President of the United States. President Barack Obama told the world of the U.S. mission that successfully killed Osama Bin Laden. A mission that was worked on for months, given the go ahead a week ago, and yesterday put into action by 4 helicopters with Navy Seals and plotted but the U.S. and Pakistan intelligence. No matter where you stand in the world of politics this is a great victory for our country. A man who caused a nightmarish event on September 11th, 2001 has been killed. Now we all know the truth that this doesn't end terrorism, someone else will rise up and lash out over the death of Bin Laden, our own terrorist threat level is currently at it's highest.
Despite that though news of this event united the country in celebration because after almost 10 years there was finally a level of closure for the events of 9/11. It won't bring back those lost on that day, it won't make those fire fighters who suffer from live threatening sickness after hours of rescuing people in the wreckage suddenly get better, but it is closure to know the man who planned these attacks is now dead. Bin Laden wasn't killed in a cave, or a well hiddent hideout, he hid in Pakistan in the largest Mansion in the country surrounded by large walls wrapped in barbed wire, burning his trash instead of putting it out to collect, and having no phone line or internet connection. He almost stood on mountain high saying "COME GET ME IF YOU DARE" and our President and military forces responded with lethal force. No U.S. casualties were suffered in this attack, though Bin Laden, his son, his courier, and possibly his youngest wife are all dead.
His body now buried at sea (according to the government, the biggest nightmare of our land is put to rest. There are some people out there refusing to believe this, that it's a conspiracy or a lie. The thing about this country is people are more then allowed to express that opinion, but please remember this. Before you go out and proclaim such things on your twitter, facebook, myspace, blog, or whatever else think of those families whose men, women, and children died because of attacks planned by Osama Bin Laden, think of all the civil service workers in those states who put their lives on the line to save anyone they could and were pictured covered in ash and distress. Think of these people.. and allow them to have the few days upcoming to feel at least the tiniest bit of closure.
This is exactly how I feel a President should handle such an act, do not come out weeks in advance and tell us what you are going to do, when you will do it, and how. Come out when the mission is over, tell us what you DID, and how you accomplished this. Whether you love or hate President Obama you have to respect the way this was handled. This is a victory for our country, God Bless the USA.
