Weekend Box Office April 15th - 17th

Here we go on a nice cloudy Monday afternoon comes another weekend box office report. Nothing too surprising this week but some decent (and disappointing) numbers for the top 10 so without further delay let's get into it.

  1. Rio: $40 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  2. Scream 4: $19.2 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  3. Hop: $11.1 Million, with $82.6 Million Overall
  4. Soul Surfer: $7.4 Million, with $20 Million Overall
  5. Hanna: $7.3 Million, with $23.3 Million Overall
  6. Arthur: $6.9 Million, with $22.3 Million Overall
  7. Inisidious: $6.9 Million, with $36 Million Overall
  8. Source Code: $6.3 Million, with $37 Million Overall
  9. The Conspirator: $3.9 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  10. Your Highness: $3.9 Million, with $16 Million Overall

You can officially call Your Highness a total flop, with only making 16 million and possibly falling out of the top 10 this coming weekend it doesn't look to be making it's budget back any time soon. Rio was pretty much expected to take the top spot with it being so heavily advertised and tied in with Angry Birds. Scream 4 was a little disappointing (box office wise) as the film itself was actually pretty good (we will have an audio review up later today). It's also interesting to note that The Conspirator is 9th having only been played in 707 theaters averaging $5,600 per theater which is pretty impressive. No new films open up this coming weekend (Easter) So expect to see much of the same next weekend.
