The Digital Daily Fix Fantasy Movie League!

Good Morning boys and girls, today we are ready to go into full detail mode on what our next big event is. The Digital Daily Fix will be running a Fantasy Movie League starting in May! We went into brief details about it in a previous site update but now it's time to get down to the nitty gritty. Be sure to read over these details carefully as well as the closing statement at the bottom. Thank you!

  • Each league will comprise of 10 teams (owned by a single person)
  • We will have 70 films all released between the months of May and November eligible to be picked.
  • Each team will be comprised of 5 movies each. Leaving 20 movies in a type of "Free Agency"
  • Scoring will begin once the first movie is released. The score is the movie's domestic (U.S. only) box office gross. Each film's gross will be tracked for either the first month of the film's release or until it drops out of the top 10, whichever happens first. Whatever amount the film has grossed in that time will be it's final score. The team with the overall highest combined gross of all 5 movies at the end of the league will be our champion. Scores and standings will be updated here on the site every Monday when we post the Weekend Box Office.
Drafting

  • The films will be divided up between the 10 teams via a NFL style draft. Draft order will be determined at random and will be done in a snaking style.
  • Example of a Snake Draft: Round 1 teams pick in the order of 1-10, round 2 teams pick in the order of 10-1 and it alternates back and forth until all teams have 5 movies on their roster.
  • Before the draft each team owner will be sent a spreadsheet of all the films eligible for them to research and determine which movies they want to go for. We will do our best to put the movies in a drafting order with where they will be projected to go (as in which pick, what round, and so on) this will be determined based on star power, gross of previous installments (if it's a sequel) what it will be going up against the same weekend, etc.
  • A Draft date will be scheduled based on the availability of team owners. It will take place either in person or over skype.
  • If you are unable to attend the draft in person your picks will be automated. Automated picks means when it's your team's turn to select you will be given whatever movie is the highest projected pick at the time. You may submit a sheet to the league owner before the draft date with your requested picks and if they are available when it's your teams turn you will be given that movie. If it's not available you will be given the highest projected pick.
  • Once all teams have 5 movies there will be 20 films remaining as "Free Agents" these can be used in case a film you have gets delayed or you want to just switch out one film for another.
Free Agency & Trades

  • In order to claim a movie off free agency you will need to drop a movie off your team to maintain the 5 movie limit. A film is no longer in free agency once it's released in theaters.
  • When a film is put into free agency there is a 2 day waiting period before that film is available to the other teams. If the movie you are trying to pick up from free agency is to be released in theaters in 24 hours or less the pick up can be approved by a team owner majority vote.
  • If multiple teams put a claim in for a free agent, who gets the movie is determined by Waiver Wire priority. Once the draft is completed each team will be ranked for their priority. Basically it will start out as the reverse order of the draft. If you were the last pick (pick 10) in the draft you are then the first pick in the Waiver Wire. Once you pick a movie off of the waiver wire though you are then automatically moved to 10th and each other team moves up one rank.
  • Trades will be available between teams until August 1st. Once you and the other team you are trading with agree to terms the trade will be sent to all other team owners and be on a 24 hour hold. The 24 hour hold is the time for any teams who feel the trade is unfair to vote to void the trade. If a majority of team owners vote against it then the trade is voided.
Multiple Leagues

  • Once the initial league is filled that DOES NOT mean we cut anyone else off from participating. Other people are welcome to start up a second league. You will be in charge of running the draft for your league seperately but once you have the league set up with teams and movies you can submit all information (team owners, names, rosters) to digitaldailyfix@gmail.com and from there we will track all scores, trades, free agency pick ups and so on. All you have to do is manage the draft yourself.

I know this sounds like a lot but in reality all you need to do is draft your team, be aware of the waiver wire and trade rules and we are handling the rest. We will handle trade votes, league updates, scoring, and so on. I truly believe this will be a fun event for all to participate in for bragging rights and a championship trophy. I hope you all participate and have fun and if this is the success we feel it can be then it will be a yearly tradition for the site.

Thank you all for your support and participation, above all else HAVE FUN!

  1. I'm actually a little disappointed that Project X isn't a remake of the Matthew Broderick movie about chimps flying fighter jets.
