Weekend Box Office March 25th - 27th

This weekend provided a shocking first place film, a disappointment for another, and an overall mediocre box office. Without further delay lets get into it.

  1. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules: $24.4 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  2. Sucker Punch: $19 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  3. Limitless: $15.2 Million, with $41.2 Million Overall
  4. The Lincoln Lawyer: $11 Million, with $28.9 Million Overall
  5. Rango: $9.8 Million, with $106.3 Million Overall
  6. Battle: Los Angeles: $7.6 Million, with $72.5 Million Overall
  7. Paul: $7.5 Million, with $24.6 Million Overall
  8. Red Riding Hood: $4.3 Million, with $32.4 Million Overall
  9. The Adjustment Bureau: $4.2 Million, with $54.8 Million Overall
  10. Mars Needs Moms: $2.1 Million, with $19.1 Million Overall
Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 wasn't even on our radar and it just walked right up there and told Sucker Punch to sit the fuck down. Bad critical reviews combined with bad word of mouth seemed to have killed off the steam Sucker Punch produced and with the film being made for $75 million it doesn't look like it will make that back (at least domestically). Though no film is more disappointing then Mars Needs Moms, out for 3 weeks, only making $19 million total and it cost $150 million to make.

This weekend sees a few releases that have the potential to take the top spot. The Source Code starring chesty Jake Gyllenhaal as he is taken through the last 8 mins of someone's life to try and find out who blew up a train. Hop, the easter bunny movie where he can poop jelly beans (need I say more?). Finally we got Insidious which by it's remarkable advertising (Insidious is Insidious) there is no way it can NOT do well.

  1. I ended up seeing Limitless last night on a whim. It was shockingly entertaining. Surely much better than the trailers would have led you to believe.
