Weekend Box Office February 4th - February 6th

Super Bowl weekend usually proves to be a slow weekend for the box office, combine that with a huge UFC Pay Per View and you get this dismal top 10. Lets get to it!

  1. The Roommate: $15.6 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  2. Sanctum: $9.2 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  3. No Strings Attached: $8.4 Million, with $51.7 Millions overall
  4. The King's Speech: $8.3 Million, with $84.1 Million overall
  5. The Green Hornet: $6.1 Million, with $87.1 Million overall
  6. The Rite: $5.5 Million, with $23.6 Million overall
  7. The Mechanic: $5.3 Million, with $20 Million overall
  8. True Grit: $4.7 Million, with $155 Million overall
  9. The Dilemma: $3.4 Million, with $45.7 Million overall
  10. Black Swan: $3.4 Million, with $95.8 Million overall
The staying power of the Oscar nominations is remarkable. The King's Speech was just $90K short of taking 3rd place. Also the huge drop from two of last week's top three is crazy with The Mechanic and The Rite both dropping more then 50% off of their box office total from last week. The top two this week also do not seem like the will have much staying power with weak openings and reviews very sour.

This coming weekend sees a variety of releases. The Eagle starring Channing Tatum as he tries to make you believe a wigger can be a Roman soldier. Gnomeo and Juliet, the Shakespeare tale told with garden gnomes. Adam Sandler's latest attempt to fail to entertain anyone in Just Go With It, where he uses his best friend's kids as a cover to get laid by a hot blonde. Also Biever Fever will flood the theaters with Never Say Never. The latest teen pop star to put a concert on the big screen. February is looking real bad when the best options to go to the theater this month are gonna be films starring Nicholas Cage and Owen Wilson... God help us all.
