Weekend Box Office February 25th - 27th

Wow... this weekend really took a turn I wasn't expecting. While the grosses for this weekend were on par from last weekend, its the rankings that really are surprising. Lets get to it.

  1. Gnomeo & Juliet: $14.2 Million, with $75.1 Million Overall
  2. Hall Pass: $13.4 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  3. Unknown: $12.4 Million, with $42.8 Million Overall
  4. Just Go With It: $11.1 Million, with $79.3 Million Overall
  5. I A, Number Four: $11 Million, with $37.7 Million Overall
  6. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never: $9.2 Million, with $62.7 Million Overall
  7. The King's Speech: $7.6 Million, with $114.5 Million Overall
  8. Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son: $7.5 Million, with $28.5 Million Overall
  9. Drive Angry 3D: $5.1 Million *OPENING WEEKEND*
  10. The Roommate: $2 Million, with $35.9 Million Overall
Like I said it's pretty nuts. Gnomeo & Juliet jumps up to No.1 Oscar weekend and new entry Hall Pass fails to take the top spot. The other new comver Drive Angry 3D, while I thought wouldn't make much I certainly thought it would do better then 9th. Really shows how much star power Cage DOESN'T have anymore. King's Speech continues to hold strong and don't be surprised if it has one more strong weekend after taking home Best Picture last night. True Grit and The Fighter also popped back up on the radar (though not in the top 10) with The Roommate only holding off True Grit by a small $75,000.

Next week should see a strong box office as we have two star powered movies in Rango starring Johnny Depp as he plays a Lizard who through some wild events becomes the Sheriff of a small town. It's a CG film that looks like it could do well entertaining the kiddies. We also have The Adjustment Bureau starring Matt Damon as a senator who falls for a woman and discovers a Bureau that makes sets a specific life track for everyone on earth and makes sure you stay with it no matter the cost.
