Apple Begins Spreading The iPhone Love To Verizon
Ladies and Gentlemen it's official, the iPhone is coming to Verizon Wireless.
To some of you this is a "YAY!!" moment, to others it's a "meh.." moment. I already have the phone on AT&T and I can tell you that having experience with Verizon's network (selling it and having a work phone through them) and AT&T's (currently having an iPhone 4) if you want this phone you want it on Verizon. Verizon's network has a much larger coverage and they have already proven they can handle the level of usage through their various Droid phones. While I like my iPhone, I certainly am not the biggest fan of AT&T. Verizon has been in discussions for this phone since 2008 according to CEO Lowell McAdams. They have had the phone in testing for a year now to make sure that it works to their standards. Now how much of that is truth and how much of that is bullshit remains to be seen (especially the biggest question, does it still have antenna issues?), but all in all this is exciting news for tech junkies looking to get the phone on a better network.
Verizon also stated that while they have a multi-year deal with Apple, they do not have exclusive rights to a CDMA iPhone, meaning this could also come to Sprint sometime in 2011. The positioning of the antenna itself on the device has changed "to better suit CDMA" moving the antenna line that is on top of the current iPhone 4, to the left hand side above the vibration toggle and volume controls. It will not be able to make calls and surf the web at the same time but if you really do that with your phone you have bigger problems going on in your life then originally expected. It will also come VZ Navigator and V CAST music support (oh boy!). The biggest news is that the iPhone can be used as a WiFi hotspot letting up to 5 devices connect to it and use the 3G network. This is actually the first time any model iPhone has been able to be used as a hotspot device. So now you can use your iPhone to give WiFi to your iPad! -.-.... Anyway, The phone will be released to the world on February 10th for $199.99 for the 16 GB version and $299.99 for the 32 GB version. If you are a Verizon customer you can sign up now to get it on February 3rd. All Verizon stores will have the phone for display and demos next week and all Verizon store associates will have mandatory training this weekend. Over the phone customer service reps are already trained NOW and ready to take all questions.
